Hardware Solution Demonstrates High Performance and Reliability for Inter-Banking Connectivity Using Enterprise and Cloud Computing Links

OTTAWA, September 14, 2009 – Solace Systems, the leader in high-speed messaging hardware, today announced the demonstration of new technology to connect payment and capital markets enterprises as well as corporate treasuries via high-throughput, low-latency links using an innovative hardware appliance from Sun Microsystems. The technology is designed to be deployed either directly within private clouds or as on-demand services. The appliance will be on display in the Sun Microsystems booth (#3B04) at SIBOS 2009 in Hong Kong, September 14-18, 2009.

The solution offers many benefits to participants of inter-banking networks, including easier adoption of payment solutions, faster time-to-revenue and reduced operational costs. For cloud computing infrastructures or service bureaus running inter-banking connectivity, the financial network appliance provides higher performance for participants, reduced bandwidth costs and an enhanced platform for delivering new inter-banking services.

”This financial network appliance simplifies connectivity in an easy-to-use, very high-throughput device which improves the speed and ease of inter-banking connectivity, ” said Rik De Deyn, head of payments solutions at Sun. “We are pleased to be working with Solace to deliver these substantial new capabilities to the market.”

The inter-banking connectivity appliance incorporates high-throughput, low latency Java Messaging Service (JMS) technology from Solace Systems with key Sun server, VPN, security and software assets to deliver a full-featured solution for connecting to financial payment networks. With this appliance, banks can easily integrate their back-office assets with payment networks using a private or shared cloud computing environment.

“Financial institutions are always looking for more flexibility, simpler solutions and lower cost of operations in their underlying infrastructure, ” said Larry Neumann, senior vice president of alliances at Solace Systems. “Combining market-leading technologies from Sun Microsystems with Solace’s best-in-class messaging assets gives enterprises a smarter choice for secure, high-speed connectivity to the global banking network.”
