Appliance-Based Solution Increases Message Throughput Up to 100 Times While Simplifying Deployments and Lowering Costs

ATLANTA and OTTAWA (November 3, 2011) – SEEBURGER and Solace Systems today announced a joint solution combining SEEBURGER’s award-winning business integration platform with Solace’s messaging middleware appliances to support customers with high volume or distributed business transaction requirements. Integrating SEEBURGER’s business-to-business (B2B) and managed file transfer (MFT) offerings with Solace’s messaging appliances increases transaction throughput 10 to 100 times over third-party software message buses. The solution also reduces costs by consolidating the equivalent of dozens of servers running software into a single appliance.

Business applications for the solution include payment processing, order execution and corporate statements for financial services firms; customer provisioning and monthly billing for telecommunications companies; smart meter and smart grid data for utilities; and many others.

Customer benefits include:

  • A 50% to 75% reduction in message bus costs because a single appliance can replace dozens of servers, reducing the need for software licenses, power/cooling space, and server/software administration.
  • Further cost reductions through secure virtualization across hundreds of B2B and MFT application groups within each appliance.
  • Simpler deployments by supporting all messaging types (reliable, guaranteed, JMS, WAN and Web) for use across local or global deployments.

Solace hardware appliances can be used with either the SEEBURGER B2B Gateway component of SEEBURGER BIS, which has been automating trading partner communications for enterprises around the globe for more than two decades; SEEBURGER Managed File Transfer, a recently expanded solution set that provides centralized control over human-to-human, system-to-human and system-to-system file transfers with full security, visibility, governance and regulatory compliance protections; or both.

Used together, the MFT and B2B components of SEEBURGER BIS make it possible to consolidate management and reporting of all internal and external file transfer activity under one interface, simplifying IT infrastructure, reducing total cost of ownership, and streamlining corporate and regulatory compliance efforts. The SEEBURGER platform can also be used for enterprise application integration to automate business processes across software systems.

 Faster, Lower-Cost Business Transactions

“As transaction volumes rise in every industry and more business processes are distributed globally, our customers require more information delivery horsepower than software-based message buses can provide, ” said Rohit Khanna, EVP, Global Strategy and Corporate Development for SEEBURGER.  “Integrating our BIS platform with Solace solves the problem by boosting processing power by a factor as high as 100 while also supplying the deployment, consolidation, management and cost benefits of an appliance.”

“Secure, fully auditable business integration capabilities like business-to-business transactions and managed file transfer are the cornerstone of most globally distributed data applications, ” said Denis King, SVP, Global Field Services and Strategic Alliances for Solace Systems.  “This partnership lets us offer our customers the functionality of the highly regarded SEEBURGER product family for that purpose, and also help SEEBURGER customers accelerate, scale and simplify their existing deployments.”

SEEBURGER software can be deployed with the Solace 3260 Message Router, a 4U field-upgradeable unit supporting tens of millions of messages per second, or the Solace 3230 Message Router, a 2U unit designed for departmental applications, satellite datacenters and on-customer-premise solutions. The joint solution is now available from SEEBURGER as well as from Solace.
