Flagship product is first in industry to enable application-oriented network services and deploy in demanding service provider network
Ottawa, Canada, April 25, 2005 – Solace Systems, the leader in carrier-scale message routing, announced the general availability of the 3200 Series Multiservice Message Router today. The Solace Systems solution provides intelligent routing of application traffic and real-time delivery of high-value content. The 3200 Series is a scalable application services platform that allows IP-based service providers to introduce compelling new services and improve information sharing for enterprises and consumers.
As IP-based data services increasingly become commoditized, finding new sources of defendable revenue is a challenge faced by many service providers. Intelligent, content-based handling of business-critical traffic provides an opportunity for carriers to break with their bit-pipe past, and introduce highly-differentiated, application-oriented services to new and existing customers. By introducing content-awareness in their end-to-end infrastructure, service providers can embed greater intelligence in their networks and develop an important advantage in the marketplace.
Unlike today’s IP-based networks, content-aware networks provide deep visibility into data exchanged between applications and can interpret the content in a manner that is beneficial to the users, the application and the network. Keywords for example, can be recognized and acted upon during the message forwarding procedure and actions such as security policy enforcement, delivery to multiple destinations, and message prioritization can be performed dynamically by the network, while the message is in transit.
"The 3200 Series is the foundation for next-generation, application-oriented network services, " said Peter Ashton , VP Marketing and Product Management at Solace Systems. "Service providers can now monetize the application traffic in their networks and enter new lines of business without deployment delays or heavy upfront investment. Our customer trials over the past year have confirmed tremendous pent-up demand for cost-effective solutions that efficiently disseminate high-value information."
Deployed within an existing IP/MPLS network infrastructure, the 3200 Series solution exploits content-based routing, network-wide intelligence and advanced message services to deliver the flexibility, security, and resiliency expected by global network operators and their customers. As a ready-made services platform purpose-built for message routing, the 3200 Series can dramatically accelerate deployment and reduce the cost of service delivery. With support for legacy messaging interfaces and standards-based XML, the solution simplifies the integration of existing and emerging applications and future-proofs the infrastructure. Furthermore, with silicon-based processing and pay-as-you grow scalability, the 3200 Series ensures sustained performance through mission-critical conditions and large message volumes.
In collaboration with Solace Systems, Allstream, a leading North American IP/MPLS Services provider, is currently developing a suite of innovative Network-Resident XML Services based on the 3200 Series Message Router.
"The Solace solution will allow us to quickly develop new application-oriented services that will help us further our relationships with customers in key enterprise verticals, " said Krista Jones, Vice President, Marketing, Allstream. "These innovative services will offer customers a cost-effective alternative to building their own message routing infrastructure and will reduce time to deploy business-critical applications."
