OTTAWA, December 9, 2010 – Solace Systems, the leading provider of messaging middleware appliances, today announced the appointment of Dan Matte, senior vice president of marketing and business development for F5 Networks, to its board of directors.

“F5 Networks is one of the best managed companies in the technology industry, as evidenced by their consistent innovation and tremendous growth, ” said Craig Betts, CEO of Solace Systems. “We are fortunate to be able to benefit from the unique knowledge and experience Dan has acquired while building F5’s business throughout its ascent from startup to dominant market leader.”

As one of F5’s original employees, Matte was influential in helping the company pioneer the load balancing industry which is now a critical component of networking infrastructure. Prior to F5, Matte worked with Memotec Communications, an innovator in frame relay and voice-over-frame-relay technologies, and founded REON Corporation, a company specializing in secure remote access and wireless data communications.

“Solace has quickly established themselves as the leader in high-speed, reliable middleware appliances and I see a lot of parallels to the early days at F5, ” said Matte. “I look forward to helping the management team any way that I can as they build upon their already impressive customer base and market position.”
