A lot of things happened in October. Here are some highlights:
On October 4, Solace announced version 2.0 of PubSub+ Event Portal. The new release transforms the way architects and developers design, lifecycle manage, and govern event-driven APIs and applications across a variety of brokers, including Solace, Apache Kafka, Confluent and Amazon MSK.
The new version offers new lifecycle management capabilities, easier integration with software development tools, and the ability to create event APIs, among other things. Read this Event Portal 2.0 community summary post for all the relevant links to supporting content, like:
If you are wondering what projects are in development for Solace core and cloud products, “What’s Next with Ed and Ali” is the show for you! The series aims to provide a sneak peek into features before they hit the market, including lab projects, pre-releases and even some discussions on very early prototypes. It also features some early demos so you can feel confident in our roadmap and provide feedback on what you see.
In the premier episode, Ed Funnekotter, SVP of core product development and Ali Pourshahid, SVP of cloud and developer experience provide an overview of PubSub+ Platform and talk about PubSub+ Event Portal 2.0 features, Kafka Bridge, and the future of distributed tracing. Read the community post to learn more and tell us what you want the series to cover.
The wait is over! I’m excited to let you know that the early release of the PubSub+ container supporting Mac computers running Apple’s powerful new M1 chip is now available to our community members. With this early access release, you will be able to create an instance of PubSub+ on your M1-powered Mac using Docker Desktop. Check out the community post to learn more and get the download links.
A developer was wondering how to retrieve the SolOS version, so I wrote a short tip and trick in the community. Drop a comment in the discussion if you find it helpful. And if you have a tip or trick of your own, please share it with the community so others can benefit!
In this section, I’ll review a few questions our community members asked this month that you may be interested in reading about.
To celebrate the launch of PubSub+ Event Portal 2.0, we decided to focus our exclusively on Event Portal. Take the 3-question challenge and submit your answer by October 31 to win a Solace backpack.
I strongly encourage you to sign up for the Solace Developer Community if you have not already done so. This way you can not only keep abreast of the latest developments in the community, but also engage with other members to help them or get help from them.
