Solace is moving towards a single platform control plane that runs wherever your business needs it: multi-tenant in Solace’s cloud, in a dedicated single-tenant instance, or fully inside your own VPC, data center or air-gapped facility. It is one platform with one experience, so choosing where your event mesh’s control plane lives no longer means trading capability for control. Over time the whole platform follows, in stages.

Event Portal brings design and governance, Insights brings operational intelligence, Solace Studio brings data pipelines and Agent Mesh orchestrates agents. All of it runs under your control, with designs and metadata that never leave the boundary your organization requires. The result is a closed loop from governed design to running configuration, delivered wherever your compliance, residency or air-gap requirements say it has to be.

Step one is Mission Control, available first to self-managed customers. It brings the point-and-click deployment, upgrades and lifecycle management that Solace Cloud customers already have to software brokers and appliances. SolAdmin, the current solution for on-premise management, is in maintenance mode, so Mission Control replaces its per-broker, script-and-syslog workflow with one inventory across appliances, self-managed software brokers and cloud brokers.

Here’s an overview of this direction from Scott Lawrence, VP of product management:

    Mission Control

If you run Solace brokers in your own data center, in an air-gapped facility, or anywhere outside our cloud, you already know the trade-off. Everyone on Solace Cloud gets Mission Control: point-and-click deployment, upgrades, and lifecycle management for their event brokers and event mesh. Up until now, the experience for fully self-managed customers was much more like traditional middleware with SolAdmin and broker manager, scripts and syslogs.

Our development teams are working on bringing Mission Control to your self-managed estate. This will let you manage your Sovereign Home Cloud in the same way you can manage your Solace cloud brokers! With the new Sovereign Home Cloud the full power of Solace Platform will be available for on premise self-management. Self-management is something common in highly regulated industries or for those where running applications in their own datacenter is a competitive advantage. However, some degree of self-management is also becoming more common as companies respond to increasing (and variable) cloud compute costs by bringing some key workloads in-house.

Solace isn’t stopping there. Many of our customers already own self-managed brokers and appliances and want to see all of their estate. Mission Control will work with self-managed brokers and appliances to provide a full estate inventory including a new live view that lets you see that state of each broker and draws your eye to what really needs your attention! The same implementation of Mission Control used is by all three Solace Cloud solutions – Solace Home Cloud, Solace Dedicated Home Cloud, and Solace Sovereign Home Cloud. Any Solace Cloud solution can include self-managed brokers and appliances in your inventory!

This solution is available to all self-managed customers and was designed to fit well with regulated industries where location sovereignty matters, operating an air-gapped facility, who’s security policies dictate location, manage a broker estate with appliances, or those who just plain want to manage their own applications. If you’re in financial services, manufacturing, telecom, or the public sector and you’ve asked your Solace account team when the next generation control plane was coming, this is the answer.

    What Mission Control brings instead

Mission Control is management solution, Solace has used for almost a decade to deploy and manage hundreds of customers and thousands of brokers to deliver the full suite of capabilities including:

    • One inventory, not three. Appliances, self-managed software brokers, and cloud brokers show up in a single estate view, so “what’s running, what version, what’s about to fall out of support” stops being a spreadsheet exercise and starts being a screen you can actually check.
    • Automated lifecycle management. Deploy, upgrade, and patch cloud brokers with testing built into the workflow, instead of a person manually stepping through each one and hoping nothing breaks on the way.
    • Mesh Manager. Easier design of your event mesh
    • An audit trail, not a guess. Every change is logged and exportable, so when security asks who did what and when, you have an answer instead of a shrug.
    • Built for air-gapped environments, not despite them. Zero dependency on Solace infrastructure when that’s what your environment requires.

If your team already manages infrastructure as code, Mission Control meets you there too. The same API, Terraform provider, and command-line tooling that drive the cloud product work here.

And none of this is only about brokers. It’s the same console that already handles Event Portal, Insights, and Agent Mesh for cloud customers, brought to wherever your brokers actually live.

Event Portal with Sovereign Home Cloud

Event Portal will extend the design and governance experience of Solace Cloud to teams that need the platform running in their own environment. Architects and developers will be able to model event-driven applications, define event APIs, document schemas, and govern reuse without having to move sensitive design work or metadata outside the boundaries required by their organisation.

Over time, Event Portal in Sovereign Home Cloud should also make it easier to turn governed designs into running configurations. Teams will be able to define the intended event flows and configuration in a consistent way, then push or deploy those definitions into the brokers and environments they manage through the platform. That closes the loop from design and governance to operational deployment, while keeping the same self-service experience inside the customer-controlled environment.

Now Three Ways to Run Solace Platform

Mission Control is one capability. Home Cloud is where it runs, and is in development to enable customers the entire platform located and run in the manner they need for their business. What this means is that mission control can now be used to manage self-managed brokers and mission control itself will be able to be installed in different locations.

OptionWhere it runsInstalled and managed byBest for
Solace Home CloudMulti-tenant, in Solace's cloudSolace, end to endMost customers: the full platform experience with nothing to stand up
Dedicated Home CloudSingle-tenant, isolated instance, still in Solace's cloudSolace, end to endTeams that need isolation from other tenants but don't want to run the control plane themselves
Sovereign Home CloudYour own VPC, on-premises, or fully air-gappedYou (or Solace Professional Services to help stand it up)Regulated, air-gapped, or data-sovereignty-bound environments that need the control plane fully inside your own walls

The Innovation of Solace Cloud as a Sovereign Home Cloud

Mission Control and Event Portal are the flagship capabilities landing first in Sovereign Home Cloud, not the whole story. Expect the fuller platform to follow it in stages rather than all at once.

Insights will bring the same operational intelligence Solace Cloud customers use today into environments where the control plane has to run under your control. For Sovereign Home Cloud customers, that means broker and event mesh health, trends, and usage signals can be gathered and reviewed inside your own boundary, whether that is your VPC, your data center, or an air-gapped deployment.

The value is not just another dashboard. Insights helps teams move from reactive monitoring to proactive operations: spotting capacity pressure, identifying unusual behaviour, understanding service health over time, and giving operations teams a clearer view of what needs attention across their self-managed estate.

Solace Studio for building data pipelines and Agent Mesh for orchestrating agents are also coming to Sovereign Home Cloud. The goal is the same platform experience you’d get from Solace Cloud today, running wherever your compliance, residency, or air-gap requirements say it has to.

Dedicated Home Cloud is moving too, mostly on the geography axis. For customers with European data residency requirements, we’re already adding infrastructure and dedicated control planes based in the EU, so you can get full isolation and data residency without taking on the operational load of running the control plane yourself; the natural progression is a 100% dedicated solution.

Put together, the three options mean the conversation about where your event mesh’s control plane lives stops being a trade-off between capability and control. Multi-tenant if you want the least to manage. Dedicated if you want isolation without the operational burden. Sovereign if you need it fully inside your own walls. Same platform, same experience, different answers to the question of whose infrastructure it runs on.

    Why this Matters

A lot of event streaming vendors treat on-premises as an afterthought: a stripped-down binary with none of the tooling the cloud product gets, or a console that stops at “here are some logs.”

Try finding a credible, modern answer for managing an air-gapped broker estate anywhere in the Kafka or legacy-middleware world, and you’ll mostly find scripts, read-only dashboards, or silence. That’s exactly the gap Sovereign Home Cloud, and Mission Control inside it, is built to close: the same platform, the same experience, your choice of where it runs.

More on availability as it rolls out. If you’ve been managing brokers by hand and wondering when the rest of the platform was going to show up where you live: it’s on its way, so please follow solace.com/whats-new or pay attention to the platform release notes in your inbox or in docs.solace.com.
