Challenge
The “One Pool Wagering” service that Hong Kong Jockey Club offers requires real-time data movement to support high-speed calculation, including the continuous synchronization of data across their Happy Valley and Shatin datacenters.
Large events like the International Derby drive exponential growth, and they need to ensure fast, predictable performance speed at peak capacity during bursts of activity. Finally, they needed the flexibility to compete with other bookmakers, and needed the ability to failover to standby systems in 7–14 seconds in the event of failures.
Solution
The Club uses Solace distribute real-time data – live odds, race results and wagering updates –to their customers. Solace Platform was implemented in collaboration with Sonivy, a provider of integrated technology services for the financial services sector in Hong Kong and Mainland China. The Club’s adoption of Solace is consistent with their commitment to delivering the best customer experience in horse racing, sporting and betting entertainment.
