OTTAWA, MARCH 15, 2011 – Solace Systems, the leading provider of middleware appliances, today announced a joint effort with Arista Networks to deliver a real-time monitoring agent that aggregates data from the Arista Latency Analyzer (LANZ) and Solace’s middleware monitoring framework. The resulting consolidated operational data will help IT departments maximize the availability and performance of ultra-low latency messaging systems.
This solution will benefit all high-performance computing applications that rely on ultra-low latency data distribution, including financial services use cases such as algorithmic trading, smart order routing, and exchange trade crossing where operations teams must ensure low, consistent latency through network disruptions and traffic spikes. This new Solace software agent runs on the Arista switch where it receives detailed statistics and congestion alerts, and publishes that information to the Solace management environment or third-party latency monitoring products.
Solace has worked with key customers to identify the most pressing challenges in the area of ultra low latency data distribution, and throughout 2011 will announce a series of alliances and innovations that will improve not just the performance, but the overall robustness of low latency systems.
“Financial trading firms are seeking ever faster messaging and network infrastructure, which drives a requirement for more sophisticated performance measurement, ” said Shawn McAllister, CTO at Solace Systems. “Integrating with Arista’s new LANZ technology is the latest step in our strategy to help our customers more effectively deal with microbursts and volatile traffic so they can optimize both the performance and resilience of these mission-critical platforms.”
Arista’s new LANZ feature is available now across their entire 7100 series of Ethernet switches, including the new 7124SX switch, announced today, offering sub-500 nanosecond latency. The Solace monitoring agent for Arista LANZ will be available in the spring of 2011.
“Our customers rely on Arista not just to deliver the world’s fastest, most reliable networks, but to deliver end-to-end solutions that solve their real world problems, ” said Anshul Sadana, vice president of customer engineering at Arista. “Arista and Solace share a long list of latency-sensitive customers that can benefit immediately from integrating LANZ and Solace messaging.”
