Support Dates for Solace Software Event Brokers, SolOS Firmware, and Event Broker Services Releases

Beginning with the 2025 annual Solace Event Broker Long Term Support (LTS) release in June, Solace has transitioned to a new broker-release strategy for all Solace Event Broker products, including Appliance, Software Broker, and Solace Cloud. We will now offer only LTS and Rolling releases.

This release cycle change aligns with industry-standard practices, allowing Solace to deliver more secure and reliable updates for Solace Event Broker products. By accelerating the release cadence, adopting a clear back-porting policy, and simplifying release categories, Solace can quickly address security vulnerabilities, fix critical bugs, and deliver innovative features.

Support Policies and Definitions Summary

The following policies and definitions take effect starting with the June 2025 LTS Event Broker release. For a better understanding of the release cadence, upgrade policies, and support, see documentation. For more information about releases before 10.25.0, see below.

• Long-Term Support (LTS) Release — A production-ready release available in June each year with maintenance releases every two weeks. LTS releases are supported for two years and will receive updates through Maintenance releases. Solace recommends planning your production deployments based on the LTS schedule and upgrading to Maintenance releases as they become available.
• Rolling Release — A generally-available release intended for new feature introduction and integration and occurs every two weeks after the LTS release. Rolling releases are supported for two years and will not receive updates through Maintenance Releases.
• Maintenance Release — Updates for LTS releases(only) containing security fixes and product fixes. Maintenance releases will be published on a two-week cadence.
• Backporting — Fixes for severity 1 and 2 issues and vulnerabilities in LTS releases, delivered via maintenance releases as long as, in the opinion of Solace, they do not introduce any instability risks. In situations where there are potential instability risks, Solace will publish backporting exceptions.
• Vulnerability — Security advisories are issued for all vulnerabilities. A vulnerability is defined as any security software bugs in Solace software or included in third-party dependencies that results in a loss of confidentiality, integrity, data availability, or platform availability. Remediation timelines are based on the availability of an industry-defined fix with Critical (CVSS v3 9.0-10.0) within 15 days, High (CVSS v3 7.0-8.9) within 30 days, and Medium/Low (CVSS v3 0.1-6.9) within 90 days.
• Upgrades — Supported to any higher release-numbered version that is both (a) after the release date of your current version and (b) was released while your current version was still within its active support period.
• Version Numbering — The software event brokers and SolOS firmware use a four-segment numbering scheme (e.g., 10.25.0.24). major release (10), year (25), release type (0 for LTS, 1+ for Rolling releases), build number (24). For example, 10.25.0 is an LTS release, and 10.25.1, 10.25.2, etc. are subsequent Rolling releases, while Maintenance releases are identified as 10.25.0.100, 10.25.0.123, etc. Event broker services utilize a five-segment version numbering scheme (e.g., 10.25.0.24-0), where the first four digits are identical to those of a software event broker, but where the fifth segment indicates the version in Solace Cloud. Support is N/A (not applicable) when not available. Not all software event broker releases are available in our cloud offering of event brokers, as indicated with N/A in the table that follows.

Release Type Definitions for Releases Before 10.25.0

• Preview Release: Generally available software release intended for new feature introduction and integration.
  Technical support for one year from the release date. Any critical bugs or security issues discovered in a preview release will be addressed.
  at the earliest, in the next production release.
• Production Release: Generally available software release intended for production use. Full support (as defined below)
  for one year, followed by two years of technical support (as defined below). Released up to three times per year.
• Production Release, Long Term Support: Generally available software release intended for production use.
  Full Support for three years. Released once per year.

Support Types for Releases Before 10.25.0

• Full Support: Qualified security errata and urgent selected bug fixes will be released as they become available. Qualified security errata include critical and high common vulnerability and exposures (CVEs) and critical and important Red Hat security advisories (RHSAs). Customers may upgrade any release that is in full support or technical support to any newer release that is in full support or is a preview release. Customers may upgrade to a preview release until the Preview release is replaced by its Production release. Customers have access to the Solace support team.
• Technical Support: No maintenance releases will be provided. Upgrades to newer releases are supported.
