Introducing the VMR Community Edition

Today we announced an exciting new version of our Virtual Message Router – the “Community Edition.”

In case you don’t already know and love our VMR, it’s a message broker that runs on general purpose processors or in the cloud. The VMR Enterprise Edition supports your favorite message exchange patterns, qualities of service, open APIs/protocols, and deployment environments – from public and private clouds to virtual machines. And it’s fast: with the V7.2 release all versions of the VMR benchmark at 2-5 times as fast (often even more) as your other choices for message brokering.

This new VMR Community Edition is just as fast and offers all the same features: cloud deployment, JMS, MQTT, REST, guaranteed delivery, unified API and administration, the works! Whatever your favorite Solace messaging feature might be, we haven’t left anything out. In fact, the VMR Community Edition differs from its enterprise sibling only in its lower scaling limits and limited fault tolerance. (The Community Edition won’t support HA, nor the replication to remote sites that’s required to enable disaster recovery.)

Best of all, it’s totally free! Free to develop with, free to test with, free to use in production. There are no license keys or time limits associated with the VMR Community Edition. Use it wherever and whenever you like. If you need more scaling or fault tolerance than it offers, the VMR Enterprise Edition (or even an appliance) can be swapped in without changing a single line of application code.

If you need a fast, stable messaging or streaming layer in your application, the VMR Community Edition is the place to start. Download it and try it out now.
