SL RTView Monitor Enables Easier Monitoring of Solace Hybrid Cloud Deployments

David Hickman leads SL’s Product Marketing initiatives.

SL and have Solace have been working together for over a year now to perfect a monitoring solution for both Solace messaging appliances and Solace VMRs.  RTView® Monitor for Solace is now available for a free 30-day trial as an Amazon AMI download.

Monitoring Solace VMRs in the cloud is easy.  Just “download” our Amazon AMI, start it up in your AWS environment and point it to your Solace VMRs to get started.

The trick was not just monitoring a single instance, but rather monitoring every single instance of deployed Solace messaging regardless of location and version.  That’s right.  Monitor physical appliances and VMRs in the same dashboard.  Have Solace on-premise and in the cloud?  No problem.  More than one cloud provider?  We monitor hybrid cloud environments for breakfast! Deployed in containers?  We can monitor all of that.

Built on top of the RTView Enterprise platform, you can use RTView Monitor for Solace as a standalone tool, or you can monitor your entire middleware and application environment by choosing from dozens of Solution Packages for common middleware and application infrastructure components.  Migrating from one middleware technology to another?  View both of them side-by-side since these migrations won’t happen overnight.

SL RTView’s claim to fame is our expertise in monitoring middleware environments.  SL has the broadest support for middleware technology of any other monitoring vendor on the market today.  Plus, RTView’s distributed architecture is perfect for massively distributed environments which tend to overwhelm other centralized monitoring solutions.  RTView’s architecture can match your Solace deployment, distributed geographically or functionally, from SEMPs or Stat Pump.  And RTView is agentless, so you don’t have to install and maintain local agents that deprive your routers of valuable system resources.

We worked closely with Solace to ensure that we were capturing the right performance metrics for monitoring routers, VPNs, bridges, clients, and endpoints while providing capacity analysis and Syslog events.  The Solace Monitor already has over 50 pre-defined alert definitions with pre-configured thresholds for fast and easy real-time alerting, and you can create and modify more as desired.  Alerts can also be integrated with Service Now and other ticketing systems if required.

A third powerful capability is the storage and display of historical metrics so that you can quickly analyze performance trends over time and backtrack to investigate conditions leading up to performance bottlenecks.

If you’d like to see what all the buzz is about, we have several paths for you to explore.  Learn more about the RTView platform and RTView Monitor for Solace at sl.com.  From there, you can click on the FREE TRIAL button to access an instance of RTView Monitor for Solace running in a hosted sandbox and get some hands-on experience working with the monitor.

But if you really want to start uncovering some performance insights into your own Solace environment, then I would suggest that you try RTView Monitor for Solace for 30-days as an Amazon AMI.  The AMI that can be deployed directly into your Amazon environment and easily configured to start gathering metrics from your own Solace appliances and virtual message routers – no matter where your routers have been deployed.
