A Summary of Today’s Solace Announcements

Today is a very exciting day for Solace. We’ve been working on a sweeping set of changes that bring to fruition a vision we’ve had for a while now, and we’re excited to share the big news. This page serves as a summary of all the news we introduced today, so let’s get right to it.

Open Data Movement

All of these changes reflect and support a new idea we’re calling “Open Data Movement.” Open Data Movement is about giving you freedom and flexibility in the data movement layer of your application infrastructure. It’s all about avoiding vendor, cloud and product lock-in, and it’s what sets us apart from the message brokers and streaming servers you use today. Support for AMQP 1.0

As a big part of that, we announced today a strategic commitment to support AMQP 1.0, which is poised to replace MQ and older JMS implementations as next-generation workloads migrate to private and public clouds. The addition of AMQP 1.0 support means you’ll be able to tap into every messaging and streaming standard via one backbone that meets the needs of all kinds of clients, clouds and servers. That’s hot. VMR Enterprise Edition Version 7.2

When we launched our Virtual Message Router (VMR) last year it became the world’s first cloud-native multi-protocol message broker, and it’s changed the game as completely as we hoped it would. Our customers have extended their Solace-based backbones to the cloud, remote offices and other places where software was a better fit for their workloads than our appliance. Today we also announced the free “Community Edition” of the VMR that offers the next-generation messaging/streaming behavior and performance of our Enterprise Edition at no cost, with no strings attached. Support for Additional Popular Cloud IaaS and PaaS’s

Clients have been using our products in their private clouds for years, and the VMR has since allowed us to deliver on our promise of providing one backbone that works across all clouds. We’ve previously announced support for IaaS and PaaS platforms like Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, HP Helion and Mirantis, and today we announced current or imminent support for Microsoft Azure, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, RedHat OpenShift and IBM BlueMix.

Pivotal Cloud Foundry Tile

The PaaS platform Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) is gaining rapid adoption in both private and public cloud deployments, and today we announced a Pivotal Cloud Foundry tile that offers easy access to Solace messaging directly within PCF. Learn More.

There’s been a revolution in the way applications are built, tested and deployed. Today we announced that we’re embracing the modern toolchain by supporting the tools DevOps people rely on, such as GitHub, Maven Central, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible and Spring Cloud. Learn more.

Release of REST API for Management of Message Routers

A key part of modern DevOps is scripting to automate configuration tasks like creating users, setting permissions, etc. Today we announced that version 2 of our Solace Element Management Protocol is a REST API that lets tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible and Bosh do their thing with Solace so you can seriously streamline your operations. Introducing Solace Labs

Sharing is caring, they say, and since we care about people succeeding with our technology we have announced a new GitHub repository and associated website destination called Solace Labs where we and our users can share code that simplifies the implementation of our technology. It’s already the home to projects for Spring Cloud and Cloud Foundry, and we can’t wait to see it become a central location for open source solutions and extensions as developers like you share their creative, practical solutions featuring Solace APIs or other useful data movement techniques.
